For the foreseeable future, probably nothing will replace the tried and true print yearbook for student portraiture and individual personalization. But the print yearbook can’t reflect the stunning action of a sports victory in motion, the hilarity of a series of comic moments from a play, an in-the-auditorium experience of a choral concert, or the motion and sounds of bustling hallways between classes.

Video captures these moments in time like nothing else can, providing the keys to re-experiencing a wealth of memories—decades after they’ve passed. Even a sophisticated DVD yearbook can be produced for a fraction of the cost of most print yearbooks, so instead of an either or choice...you can have both.

Organic Media is unique in offering your school the freedom to decide how much design, development and production you’d like to take on...and we’ll do the rest, providing a completely printed and packaged “retail ready” product. If you and your students want to design and create the menus, graphics and navigational flow, you can. If you’d rather have a simple template to work from and have us incorporate your school logo, colors and mascot into the graphics, you can go that route instead.

You can provide us with: edited video clips for the chapters of your book, or we can edit your video into general highlights. OR, through an intermediate process, we can edit your video to your exact specifications, which you provide us from the comfort of your living room or classroom using your own VCR. If you’re working exclusively with still images, we can edit those into categorized montages and set them to theme music.

If your school is using DV, Hi8, or SVHS camcorders, you’re capturing high quality video that can look stunningly good, even on a big screen TV—provided your DVD is made on a top notch professional system. If, on the other hand, your DVD is made on a consumer or prosumer tool, the more complex the picture information is, the more coarse the video will look. Sports video is a good example of complex picture information.

It’s difficult to show a simple pricing schedule. The low end of the cost scale for a DVD yearbook is around $4 to $6 per disc, with the average cost running between $10 and $20. Major factors (not necessarily in order) are: the number of discs, the complexity of authoring, the type of printing & packaging, and the readiness of submitted materials (will Organic Media be editing video or creating slide shows, etc.)
