Student Media Collections

After students have invested the tremendous amount of time and creative energy it takes to bring comprehensive projects to completion, their efforts can be enjoyed and recognized beyond the classrooms and exhibitions, in a permanent collection showcase on DVD. Whether it’s documentary videos, experimental films, and digital cinema...or photography, painting, or sculpture, a student media collection on DVD is an excellent and affordable way to offer the artists, their peers, and the community at large, a way to share the fruits of creative labor.

In our continuing support of artistic endeavors, Organic Media makes these collections available to schools in small numbers to aid in their use as a fundraising tool or as a premium for larger fundraising programs. Fully authored discs with custom color packaging are offered in packs as few as 25 discs, with basic authoring and color packaging offered on as few as ten discs.

Utilizing our Sonic Solutions DVD workstations (which take in uncompressed SDI video), in most cases the video and audio on your DVD will look and sound virtually the same as the master video tapes you provide us. We are also able to encode digital graphics and photographs from uncompressed sources, which produce nothing less than stunning results—especially on the newer high resolution TV sets.

Because of the many variables involved, it’s difficult to offer a simple pricing schedule that reflects the actual finished cost of a media collection DVD. The low end of the cost scale would be around $4 to $6 per disc with the average running between $8 and $12. Major factors (not necessarily in order) are: the number of discs, the complexity of authoring (the number of menus, categories, etc.), the type of printing and packaging, and the readiness of submitted materials (will Organic Media be compiling montages, editing video, adding the music, etc.).
