Editing
We can edit your film or video to specification and output
to DVD or video tape. We use an Avid Technology D-1 resolution
non-linear editing system—an important consideration
because of its reliability and efficiency. If you work with
computers, you know how easy work can get lost or jumbled
up. We don’t have those problems with the Avid.
The most cost effective way to
edit film or video—be it your old home movies, a month
long trip to Africa, or several years worth of holiday home
videos—also gives you the most
control. We digitize your footage and make a VHS copy with
a time clock inserted into the picture. Watch this copy and
write down the clock numbers where the final version of your
movies will start and stop, so only the footage you want gets
included. You can also tell us where to insert titles and
if you want the picture to fade, cut or dissolve. You can
be a regular Steven Spielberg from the comfort of your own
living room. This method makes it possible to edit through
hours of footage very affordably. You can even do a fine cut
after seeing the first edited version, if you’d like.
We can also edit your footage from general instructions like
“cut right before Aunt Tillie drops the cake on Uncle
Pat,” but this is a more time consuming/expensive way
to go, and not as precise.
Another method is to have us take your footage and create
a story through the editing process. The finished product
is very cool! Rather than merely paring down the length, we
are juxtaposing and creating an aesthetic arrangement, a gestalt,
if you will. The clients we have done this for are exceptionally
happy with the results, but it is by far the most expensive
because we have to become familiar with all your footage and
build our story from the ground up. Depending on the amount
of footage, it’ll cost at least five or ten times more
than you going through and selecting the footage yourself
as in the first method above—but then again, you don’t
have to do any of the work! |
